CONFORSHIP PROJECT

DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATIC THERMAL CONFORMED FOR NAVAL STRUCTURES. It is a great integrated Project of experimental and strategic development whose main goal is to achieve an effective implementation of a new system of automatic thermal conformed for obtaining steel plates with complex curvature in the shipbuilding industry.

Conforship is a great integrated Project of experimental and strategic development whose main goal is to achieve an effective implementation of a new system of automatic thermal conformed for obtaining steel plates with complex curvature in the shipbuilding industry.

 

Nowadays, this operation is performed manually involving inefficiency, unpredictability and quality problems.

 

This implementation will be achieved with the development of enabling technologies in:

 

numerical modeling of the heating system;

integrated systems of geometry control and measurement;

automatic programming systems and closed control based on predictive models and expert systems to be incorporated in a CNC machine, resulting in a new concept of machine and automatic conforming process which would be exportable then to other industries.

 

This project has been promoted by NODOSA SHIPYARD and CNP FREIRE along with machinery manufacturer NODOSAFER (NODOSA GROUP) which is the leader of this project.

 

The shipyards participating in this project manage the integration of the different results and validation of the technology developed in the shipbuilding industry environment.

 

The relationship also includes the participation of a large company like COREMAIN which is specialized in software development, and other company specialized in automation and integration of industrial processes which is SYSPRO Engineering.

 

Aimen y CITIC, two of the most important Technology Centers in Galicia in their respective sector, will collaborate with the companies consortium developing numerical models to predict the direction and sequencing of heat lines to applied on the steel plates or the generation of the expert system based on the operators experience allowing the proactive correction of the heat lines based on real performance of plates to be formed.

 

This project has been supported by CDTI, Ministry of economy and Competitiveness, Galician Agency for Innovation (AGI) and "Fondo Tecnológico".
